OUR VISION
To operate as a net zero business – a better Zenith where we work together to help rebuild, strengthen, and preserve the planet.
OUR COMMITMENTS
01
To reach net zero for our own operations.
02
To enable customer fleet decarbonisation through sustainable and diverse vehicle solutions.
03
To lead a low-impact, circular supply chain.
04
To enhance biodiversity.
What does this mean to us?
To reach net zero for our own operations
Prioritising the road to net zero and ensuring we keep consumption, energy usage and waste at all of our sites to a minimum. We’re on a mission to create sustainably run working spaces – places where our people can thrive, and big ideas can grow all with minimal impact on the planet.
View our full roadmap on pages 34-35 of our Annual Report 2023 to see how we’ll achieve our net zero transition.
To enable customer fleet decarbonisation through sustainable and diverse vehicle solutions
Putting the needs of both our customers, and the planet, first. We make our customers’ lives easier through expert guidance, investment in tech and end-to-end support. Ultimately, we’re helping all customers to reduce their fleet, or personal vehicle emissions with a smooth transition to alternative fuels.
To lead a low-impact, circular supply chain
Working with our supply partners to integrate circular economy processes wherever possible. Delivering products and services using recycled resources and eliminating waste at every step.
It’s incredibly important that we work with partners who share our values and care for the planet like we do. We’re driven to ensure that sustainability is included in everything we do, and that includes the supply partners we collaborate with – from the parts needed to repair a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) to servicing a van, we’ll optimise recycled resources wherever we can.
To enhance biodiversity
Working together to restore and protect nature at each of our sites and locations. The natural world is our key ally in protecting the planet, wherever we protect biodiversity it helps to capture carbon, and bring back balance to our planet.
We are committed to ensuring that we’re looking after the space around us and delivering a positive impact.
It’s also a great opportunity to improve employee wellbeing, as we connect with nature, and one another, with colleague-led biodiversity projects.
CONTRIBUTING TO SDGs
Our vision to operate a net zero Zenith and enhance biodiversity will positively contribute to five of the SDGs.
Sustainable cities and communities
Responsible consumption and production
Climate action
Life below water
Life on land
OUR JOURNEY SO FAR
-
2021
Proudly certified as a Carbon Neutral organisation for the first time by offsetting our Scope 1, Scope 2, and operational Scope 3 emissions.
-
2022
Issued the UK vehicle leasing sector’s largest ever green bond, committing to spending £475 million by January 2024 on BEVs. We’re proud to say that we went above and beyond this, spending £672 million on BEVs and avoiding 14,542tCO2e in the first 18 months.
-
2023
We reduced our direct emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 29.6% compared to the previous year. This was mainly achieved by the rapid transition of our own company car fleet to BEV, which surpassed 80% in 2023 (go us!).
Mark Wilson, Sustainability Manager
“Climate change is now part of our lived experience. Urgent action is required at a policy, industry, community, and individual level to prevent the worst effects.
People Powered Impact is our approach to helping ensure a liveable future for us all.
We are committed to achieving net zero through innovative collaboration across the industry. From decarbonising our customers’ fleets and integrating circular economy practices with our suppliers, to developing partnerships to safeguard and strengthen nature, we will take all the necessary actions we can to create a healthier, balanced planet.”
Our net zero commitment
In 2021, we committed to reach net zero through the Science Based Targets initiative as a Business Ambition for 1.5 degrees signatory (the most ambitious target available to help limit average global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees, no biggie!). Over the last two years we’ve been analysing our GHG emissions to identify the steps we must take to ensure we reach net zero. We’re proud to say that we submitted our near-term reduction and net zero targets to SBTi in January 2024. We’re currently working through the validation process with SBTi and will communicate our progress on this page.
Carbon Literacy Training
In FY23 we launched Carbon Literacy training to our Leadership Board and ESG Committee. At the end of FY24, we’ve now delivered the training to 77% of our senior leaders.
The training aims to create a low carbon culture, shaping citizens who understand the scale of the problem and feel empowered to take action. To find out more click on the link below.
