Tim Buchan – Hall of Fame induction
Zenith CEO Tim Buchan has been recognised by the automotive industry and inducted into the prestigious Fleet News Hall of Fame.
With more than 25 years’ experience in the fleet and leasing sector, Tim joined Zenith as Sales and Marketing Director in 2005, before moving to Group Operations Director in 2008, and CEO in 2010 – a position he has held since.
During his tenure, Zenith has gone from strength to strength. When joining the business in 2005, Tim was employee number 82 at Zenith, with the company having just 12,000 company cars. As of November 2024, Zenith employs more than 1,400 colleagues, with around 170,000 vehicles under management, and sits in the top 10 in the FN50 while still maintaining its independent status. Its operations now span the entire breadth of the automotive industry following acquisitions and the launch of consumer brand, ZenAuto. Turnover has grown exponentially since Tim joined, from £83m in 2006 to £788.1m in 2024.
Alongside growth, Tim has been integral in changing the culture and environment at Zenith. In 2016, the company moved from the old mill building in Calverley, to a state-of-the-art Kirkstall Forge facility – a move which helped to match Zenith’s ambitious growth plans. He also helped to introduce Zenith’s pioneering diversity and inclusion programme, and as CEO, has led the company to three Fleet News Leasing Company of the Year Awards – the pinnacle award within the leasing industry – which is a testament to his leadership over the past 14 years.
Congratulations Tim – your place in the Fleet News Hall of Fame is well deserved!
