A greener supply chain

Aligning core values with selected partners.
We rely on our network of suppliers to keep our customers moving, safely, therefore, it’s important that our suppliers share our values.

Essential suppliers include those supplying new vehicles, vehicle repairs, tyres or glass replacements, a network of breakdown providers, and other vehicle-related categories. Our UK-wide coverage gives us access to a network of more than 100 body repairers and 4,000 mechanical repair sites.

We have 4 commercial and parts sites nationwide with more than 80 mobile technicians, offering trailer servicing and repairs.

An ECO-FRIENDLY PARTNERSHIP

Our key partner Kwik Fit, supplies more than 75% of our car tyres.

In 2021 we extended our relationship in recognition of their commitment to environmental sustainability. Kwik Fit has been recycling our vehicles old and worn tyres, converting them into innovative products, such as playground safety flooring and football pitches. Other recycled materials include carbon black and steel, which are then used in the production of new tyres – this is known as Project TREE.

Through Project TREE Kwik Fit uses blockchain data technology which enables them to track ethically sourced rubber through the supply chain. This will be extended to the fitting of new tyres to all vehicles, as part of our future development plans.

Green parts initiative

As part of our green parts initiative our technical service team sources recycled and refurbished mechanical parts first when servicing and repairing customers’ lease vehicles.

During 2021, the team used £80,000-worth of refurbished parts. Expanding on this successful initiative we’re in the process of rolling out a new purchasing strategy for accident repairs. The aim is to source non-safety related items, including headlights and body panels from vehicles that have been classed as a total loss by insurance firms.

We expect to reuse £1 million worth of parts by 2023, reducing cost, and the use of energy and raw materials.

Furthermore, we’re committed to continue developing our supplier ESG programme. We have commissioned an important component, the supplier lifecycle management system, which will be implemented during 2022.

This data maintenance system will enable us to communicate with suppliers in a more transparent and effective way, enabling us to address key areas of compliance and action plans including identifying areas for development. Supplier performance and shared commitments will also be recorded on the system, ensuring our values are aligned in order to promote diversity and inclusion within the supply chain.

In addition, we’re planning to use the supplier lifecycle system to record sustainability efforts and accurately measure environmental commitments.
