This month at a glance
Welcome to August’s Industry Insights blog, your monthly summary of all the sector-specific updates which will help you optimise your fleet.
Read on for news on the Direct Vision Standard, the latest lobbying campaign from the BVRLA and a round up of some of the latest vehicle updates.
Direct Vision Standard grace period extended
From 28 October 2024, all HGVs entering Greater London will be required to meet a three-star safety rating. However, Transport for London (TfL) has extended the grace period for implementing the Direct Vision Standard (DVS) from three to six months, so HGVs that don’t meet the three-star rating have until 4 May 2025 to retrofit. Evidence of installation works being arranged will be required otherwise a fine will still be issued.
BVRLA EV Affordability campaign
The BVRLA is lobbying the government to ensure that there is a robust second-hand EV market – to help the first-hand EV market. As part of their #HappyEVAfter campaign, the industry body will be hosting a Parliamentary Reception on 10 September and have launched a free tool that allows you to invite your local MP to the event.
